Hope all is well in Winnipeg, that beautiful prairie summer seems to be settling in nicely! Right on, if anyone deserves it, you do!
We have been seeing a lot of tweets come our way asking about S4C Winnipeg this year. Can you believe this event has been going on for 7 years now? It seems like just yesterday we had our first one at the Forks.
Skate4Cancer Winnipeg is a very special event, unlike any other in Canada. A free admission, outdoor festival run 100% by volunteers. With thousands in attendance each year, bands, skateboarders, and volunteers come together at The Forks Plaza to encourage youth to spread positivity, get active, and live a healthy lifestyle.
Its our goal that this event remains free of charge for all of our awesome supports who come to check it out each year, however there are many logistical costs involved, like insurance and sound equipment that we need to address. Our dear friend and Founder of Be:Cause Industries, Jay Fulmore, spends over 8 months preparing for and acquiring sponsorship to fund Skate4Cancer Winnipeg – all out of the kindness of his own heart.
Sadly, over the past few years its grown harder to cover these costs solely with sponsorship funding and its just not fair for these extra cost to fall on Jay and the Be:Cause team. We’ve taken this year off to recover from costs, but also to brainstorm some fresh innovative ideas to get our wonderful sponsors and most importantly all of you guys more excited than ever for our beloved Winnipeg Event. You are part of the S4C fam and we want to hear your voices! Leave a comment below and tell us what you love most about S4C Winnipeg, or any great ideas that you’d like to see. We hope to come back next year to a re-energized Skate4Cancer Winnipeg (number 8! whoa!), but we need your help to make that happen!
We can’t even put into words how much we appreciate all of the hard work put in by Jay, the bands, the skateboarders, the volunteers, and each and every one of YOU. You really have made Winnipeg feel like home to Rob and the entire S4C team.
